POWDER COATING PROCESS
Powder coating can only be done in our Greater Manchester workshop, J16 M60. We start by removing the tyre from the wheel then use a pressure washer to remove any grit and dirt. After the alloy is cleaned we place the alloy in a special non-aggressive chemical solution to strip the alloy of any old paint layers.
Then we use a mild shot blast to etch the alloy which promotes adhesion of the zinc primer coat which follows, both of these processes eliminate any corrosion which may be present and limits its chance of returning.
During the powder coating application, we use compressed air through a nozzle with an electrode. This gives the powder a positive charge so the surface being coated ensures the powder particles stick to it, its charge also makes the particles find hard to reach areas by being attracted like a magnet ensuring 100% coverage and protection of your alloy wheel repair. After the application, we carefully place the alloy wheel into our curing oven at 200 degrees to start the molecular change. This is where each powder particle bonds with surrounding particles to form a seamless perfect finish.
Having your alloy wheels powder coated means the finish will be highly durable. Alloy wheels that have been powder coated tend to last a lot longer and resist stone chips and other forms of wear and tear when it comes to common driving elements.
Alloy Restore offers you a guarantee on any repair work we carry out, so you can be confident of a high quality service.
Our Manchester workshop is open 6 days a week Monday through to Saturday. Drop your vehicle off at a time to suit you, morning or afternoon. On average most repairs can be completed on the same day (if dropped off early morning) but we will always advise you of the expected time frame.
