WHAT IS POWDER COATING?
Here at Alloy Restore, we use the latest state of the art machinery, all located at our Bolton workshop near Manchester, ensuring we can offer not only a quality service but an express turnaround too.
We believe powder coating is far better than spray painting and provides a more durable and perfect finish. What’s more, it is more environmentally friendly as the process does not use solvents to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid consistency.
Powder coating is the process we use for colour changes and to match your existing alloy paint finish. Daily driving causes wear and tear which can lead to your alloy wheels looking scruffy and damaged. Chips, scratches, dents, even weather conditions can affect the condition of your alloys.
POWDER COATING PROCESS
We start by removing the tyre from the wheel then use a pressure washer to remove any grit and dirt. After the alloy is cleaned we place the alloy in a special non-aggressive chemical solution to strip the alloy off any old paint layers.
During the powder coating application, we use compressed air through a nozzle with an electrode. This gives the powder a positive charge, so the powder particles stick to the surface being coated. After the application, we carefully place the alloy wheel into our curing oven to start the molecular change. This is where each powder particle bonds with surrounding particles to form a seamless perfect finish.
Having your alloy wheels powder coated means the paint will be highly durable. Alloy wheels that have been powder coated tend to last a lot longer, resisting stone chips and other forms of wear and tear when it comes to common driving elements.
Here, at Alloy Restore, we offer you quality repair work, so you can be confident of a high-quality service.
